The 4th meeting of Central Traffic Advisory Committee was held today i.e. 22.2.2008 under the chairmanship of Sh. S.K. Jain, IPS, Inspector General of Police, U.T. Enhancement of penalty for traffic offences
|
On the recommendations of Chandigarh Traffic Police, Chandigarh Administration, Home Department issued a notification No. 2/3/57-HIII(7)-2008/2848 dated 8.2.2008 for enhancement of penalty for traffic offences under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 in supersession of the previous notification dated 9.5.2007. As per notification, the fines have been enhanced in various sections of Motor Vehicle Act for traffic offences:

Workshop for the CTU Roadways Drivers
|
Today was the 5th day of the 19th Road Safety week. The Chandigarh Police organized two workshops today, the first workshop for the CTU Roadways Drivers was organized on plot No. 171 Ind Area Phase 1 Chandigarh.
The work shop was chaired by Inspector Admn Sh SPS Sondhi and Insp Sukhdev Singh. Various tips on road safety awareness were given to the CTU Bus Drivers. Special tips were given by IC/CTP SI Ajay Kumar and HC Desh Raj .

WORKSHOP FOR RICKSHAW PULLERS

Chandigarh traffic police organized a workshop for rickshaw puller at Chandigarh Traffic Park, Sector 23 A, Chandigarh in connection with the 19th road safety week 2008 that is being observed by Chandigarh Traffic Police from 1-01-2008 to 7-01-2008 .The workshop was addressed
by Incharge CTP SI Ajay Kumar, HC Desh Raj.

ORGANIZATION OF FIRST AID WORKSHOP FOR THE PCR AND TRAFFIC

Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a first aid workshop for PCR and traffic police personnel at Traffic Auditorium Sector 29, Chandigarh in connection with road safety week 2008. The workshop as addressed by Sh. A.S. Ahlawat, educated by Dr. Mahesh and his team from Fortis Hospital, Mohali, organized by Chandigarh Traffic Police in liaison with SI1ri SPS Garcha, President Motor sports association Chandigarh and attended by DSP/Traffic Sh. JS Cheema, Inspectors along with 100 PCR and Traffic police personnel. |

Sh. S.K. Jain, IGP at All India Radio doing recording about road safety

Sh. S.K. Jain, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, today visited the All India Radio, Sector 34, Chandigarh for live recording about road safety awareness in UT, Chandigarh. During the recording, Sh. S.K. Jain, IGP, Chandigarh apprised about the road safety awareness programmes conducted by the Traffic Police during the year 2007. He has also apprised the general public through this recording about traffic enforcement made by the traffic police during the last year in which more than 1 Lac offenders were challaned and compounding fee of more than Rs. 2 Crores was realized. |

SCOOTER RALLY TO PROMOTE USE OF SAFETY HELMET FOR GIRLS/LADIES
|
Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a scooter/Motor Cycle rally for girls/ladies at Chandigarh Traffic Park,Sec-23 A, Chandigarh in connection with road Safety Week 2008 that is being observed by Chandigarh traffic Police from 1-01-08 to 7-01-08.
The Rally was addressed by Sh. S.K Setia DPI/School Chandigarh, Sh. Ramesh Kapoor anchor, All India Radio and Sh. Amar Manchanda, President Traffic Awareness Organization, DSP/Traffic Sh. B.S Negi, Insp Admn. Sh. S.P.S Sondhi the traffic staff were present to mark the occasions. Sh S.K Setia insisted the girls/Ladies regarding use of safety helmet properly strapped that would certainly help to save of an individual.

Inauguration of Road Safety Week 2008
|
The 19th Road Safety week was inaugurated today i.e. 1st January 2008 at CTP Sec 23 A by the Advisor to The Administrator U.T .Chd Sh. Pradip Mehra IAS. Sh. H.S.Bedi GM IOC was special guest on the occasion. IGP, SSP, SSP Traffic were present at the venue.
The theme of the Road Safety week for this year is “Drive to care, not to dare”.
